If you are doing great with your posts and getting lots of views, likes and generating engagement this message is not for you.
This message is for the people who keep doing their daily posts to sell their widgets and services that are getting only a few likes, views, and next to no engagement.
First, the purpose of social media is not to blanket post how great the thing you do or sell is, it is supposed to be social. You create the social engagement by creating value for people, being personable, and showing them what your brand or company values. Why would you or anyone else subscribe to a page that is offering them nothing in return except seeing generic daily advertisements of your product or service? People still prefer to buy from people they like and as Simon Sinek said
“People don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it”
Growing your online presence comes from providing value to your audience. People value relatable stories told about what you are doing and how it can help them. They value comments, engagement, responsiveness and knowing that behind your brand are people just like them.
This is not just some insight or aha moment, this comes from me making lots of posts that DID and many many (oh so many) that did not work. I learn and teach best by example so here are some of the ways we are connecting with clients.
Being relevant!
As I write this PokemonGO is one of those hot games that everyone, including us, is playing. So I did a video to let people know what it is about and why it’s fun. I did a paid boost to get the engagement going for only $10 and it only took a few days to reach 5,000 people and 2,500 views.
Provide Value
We did a post on how to prevent the Windows 10 pop ups that are driving people crazy to upgrade. We only spent $14 but the post was shared by people 86 times received 120 likes, and helped a lot of people stop the annoying Windows 10 update notices.
Be Personal
Post a few personal things, show people the humans that run the company. We don’t just work together we eat together, we laugh together and we provide solutions for our clients together.
I hope this is helpful for your company or brand because for us they have helped to keep us stay better engaged with our clients and have been good ways to get conversations with new clients.
