Every piece of data and personal information you save on your computer is written onto your hard drive. Once it is there, the only way you can be 100% sure that it cannot be extracted is by physically destroying the hard drive. It is important to know that most of the effective ways to destroy a hard drive can also run you the risk of personal injury or require power tools not everyone has at their disposal. We have found articles on everything from drilling holes in them to soaking them in certain types of acids. Our destruction process involves a custom made press that destroys the enclosure, but most importantly bends the disks platters. Even a small amount of bend prevents the read/write heads from ever “flying” over the surface of the media without gouging. It would be impossible to flatten them so perfectly that they could ever be spun and read again. Some drives have glass disks which shatter. We have a slow motion segment in the video that shows the shattering of a glass hard drive in the crusher.
All you have to do is drop your old computer, laptop, or hard drive during our normal business hours and we do the rest!
