Cutting the Cord in 2015 – Affordable Alternatives to Cable TV
How to cancel your cable TV once and for all!
Almost daily I am asked how, with a house full of children, I managed to cut the cord. I don’t want to miss my favorite show! and What will my children watch? are two of the main concerns that keep the majority of consumers paying the ever increasing cable tv bills. If you have been thinking about making the cut but are unsure of how to do it, don’t lose hope! It may be easier than you think.
Most people do not realize how many of their favorite shows can be found online. Netflix, Hulu, Youtube, ComedyCentral and Amazon Prime are just a few popular sites on which you can stream movies, videos, and your favorite shows right to your tv. Are you a fan of The Walking Dead or maybe American Horror Story is your show? AMC and FX both offer full episodes though Netflix & Hulu Plus . Do your kids love Bubble Guppies or Victorious? You can find full episodes of both of these popular shows on Youtube. I have now gone two years without cable tv and neither myself nor my children miss it. I have even gotten my children to watching more educational shows in place of some of their old favorites. One of their new favorite shows, and mine as well, is Crash Course. If you have not had a chance to check out this show, we recommend you give a go.
Next you need to pick which media streaming device you wish to use. I personally use Google’s Chromecast. It is one of the least expensive streaming devices at only $35. Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV are also very popular streaming devices, as well as many more. You just have to find the one that is right for you. Check out our ChromeCast Demo here!
I know I make cutting the cord sound easy, but that is because it is. Once you make the choice, the only thing left is to decide what you will buy with all the money you save!
