After years of using programs such as Photoshop or Lightroom, it is refreshing to see more and more online alternatives to creating graphic designs. One of our favorite online designing sites is Canva.com.
Canva started off with the idea of making graphic design easier, and they have done just that. The technology they use for this site makes it easy to navigate and very user friendly. We also have to point out that probably the best part of Canva is that it’s free to sign up and they have a large variety of free images to choose from. After spending time going through some of the 47 million images they have available, it’s pretty apparent that Canva rivals many of the stock photo sites online today and only charge a fraction of the price. So far, all of the images we have looked into have only been $1 to purchase and many times they offer more than one design per image selection.
Another great feature of Canva is their blogs, tutorials, and teaching materials. These are wonderful if you get stuck while designing a graphic or if you are looking for some new ideas. The tutorials are set up to walk you through each step of creating your own graphic design, starting with picking out colors and fonts all the way to adding your own logos. We highly recommend taking some time to browse through the tutorial section.
There are a couple more features we want to touch on as well. The first is the multitude of design templates Canva offers. You can find everything from cards and posters to flyers and Social Media ads. Canva even offers thumbnail graphics for more in depth social media ads. The last but definitely not least is Canva’s autosave feature. As you are working on your design, Canva is saving every change you make to your graphic. This takes the worry out of remembering to save or backup your work.
All and all, we have to say that we have not found anything we don’t like. With so many features, tutorials, and options it offers, Canva definitely gets our vote as one of web tools available today.
